CSE Crosscom announces Orion Network expansion to Ballarat and Gladstone
15 April 2025
CSE Crosscom is pleased to announce significant expansions for the Orion Network, bringing enhanced connectivity and cutting-edge communication solutions to new regional hubs. The latest additions to the network include the Ballarat Region in Victoria’s Central Highlands and the Gladstone Region in Queensland, marking a major milestone in our mission to provide reliable and high-performance communication services across Australia.
Alistair Tibballs, General Manager for CSE Crosscom, expressed his enthusiasm about the regional development, stating, “Expanding the Orion Network to Ballarat and Gladstone is a significant step for us, reflecting our dedication to providing reliable and high-performance communication services across Australia. By extending our network to new areas, we’re ensuring that more businesses can benefit from our reliable and secure communications. We’re excited about the future and look forward to continuing our mission of delivering exceptional performance and reliability to our customers.”
The Orion Network in Australia and New Zealand supports over one million voice and data transmissions daily, making it the largest digital two-way radio network of its kind in Australia. For CSE Crosscom customers, the Orion Network has established itself as the premier solution for critical, uncongested communication.
Leveraging the latest digital mobile radio (DMR) technology infrastructure, Motorola’s Capacity Max, the Orion Network delivers integrated voice and data services for clearer, faster and more versatile extended range communications. With Orion’s scalable network platform, CSE Crosscom offers flexible solutions for single and multi-site operations across a range of industries.
Customers in the expanded service areas can now benefit from the network’s secure communication channels, advanced digital voice technology and centralised dispatch capabilities, all aimed at boosting operational productivity and safety performance. Orion, combined with LTE utilising Motorola WAVE ‘push to talk’, offers seamless roaming and integration. Users can communicate outside the Orion Network, allowing companies with multiple depots or those travelling vast distances to stay connected. Reporting a Grade of Service of 99.9% and holding regular Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI), CSE Crosscom and the Orion Network are committed to delivering exceptional performance and reliability.
As part of our solutions, CSE Crosscom offers a full turnkey service that manages every aspect of your network project from start to finish. With CSE Crosscom as the single point of contact, businesses benefit from simplified communication and coordination, ensuring a seamless and efficient process. The service includes ongoing support and maintenance, regular updates and proactive monitoring to keep the network running smoothly.
Backed by a network of 19 offices across Australia and New Zealand, an in-house engineering and delivery team and strong relationships with key partners, CSE Crosscom goes beyond traditional capabilities to provide comprehensive solutions for large-scale and complex telecommunication systems and infrastructure for major projects.
To further enhance the network’s resilience, CSE Crosscom has plans to upgrade the links and network infrastructure at Orion Network sites in Western Australia. These upgrades will increase redundancy throughout the network, strengthening its robustness and reliability. Additionally, a planned upgrade for hosted TRBOnet servers will enhance the network’s capabilities, ensuring users benefit from improved performance and reliability.
Looking ahead, CSE Crosscom has further expansion planned for both Australia and New Zealand in the coming months, extending the reach of the Orion Network.
